Plentyfull has plenty of eye candy
Pretty eatery Plentyfull will satisfy both senses and appetites
If you eat with your eyes, Plentyfull will keep you full.
It is one of the prettiest eating spaces in the Marina area.
At Plentyfull's lunch spread, you choose a base, one protein and two sides for $17. At night, the restaurant switches into full service mode.
Everything at Plentyfull is made fresh and from scratch.
I was surprised that the vegetable selection on the menu was far superior to the meats, and I need my meat.
I don't know if it'll be my go-to place, but it's certainly worth checking out the day after you've decided you're plenty full of meat and need to catch up on your greens.
THE BEST IN THE HOUSE
I love tempeh, so I was happy to see Tempeh & Tofu Fries ($10) on the menu. The tempeh has a strong nuttiness and crunch. The accompanying sambal belachan is very spicy. It is a side order but I think it stole the thunder of all the mains.
PRETTY BLAH
The Pumpkin Pillow Gnocchi ($24) is gorgeous but looks can be deceiving. The shaved pecorino and brown butter sauce are interesting but the foundation of the dish - the gnocchi - feels clunky.
SIMPLY PUNCHY
What makes the Plum Salted Tomato ($6) work is its simplicity: Fresh tomatoes soaked in salt plum brine, vinegar and brown sugar. It's delicately sweet and the tomatoes are juicy.
BASICALLY SAUCY
While it's just carbs, the House Flatbread ($10) is quite good. But the dips - nori butter and elderflower caramel sauce - are even better.
DELIGHTFULLY SMOKY
The Grilled Kin Yan Farm Mushroom ($18) smells great but it's a plate of mushroom, and I need to be fed. Still, the mushrooms are meaty and hearty, with a delightful smoked onion puree over it.
