The best looks from KL Fashion Week
It was a gathering of the glamorous, the trendiest and the fashion-forward at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready To Wear (KLFW RTW) which took place from Aug 17 to 21.
Amid the disco ball dresses, girly gowns and sharp suits, we round up our favourite looks from the gathering of Malaysia's It crowd.
SCHA ALYAHYA AND AWAL ASHAARI
Can someone say "#couplegoals"?
We tried our hardest to pick their one best look but this Malaysian celebrity couple - excuse my millennial speak - slayed each time.
It can be tricky trying to pull off chili-red outfits without looking vampish but pairing her dress with an uncomplicated footwear choice and sexy, soft waves leaves Scha looking flaming hot.
I tried this top knot look and failed miserably.
I looked like I hastily attached a miniature Japanese fan to the top of my head.
But on Scha, the bold hairstyle choice adds the extra cool factor to her edgy chic outfit.
For me, the quirky Giamba bomber jacket itself is already a winner.
As for Awal, his chest cummerbund is an interesting - I admit, initially odd - touch to an otherwise straightforward jacket-and-shirt combo.
Tulle much white tulle - get it, get it - and it can lead to ghastly wedding cake comparisons.
But this mermaid-cut skirt with a peekaboo tulle hem is the stuff dreams are made of.
Or maybe it's just my tulle-crazy side talking.
BONUS
She might only be two years old, but Lara Alana can give her fashionista parents a run for their money.
That denim jacket? That tulle skirt? So adorable!
VIVY YUSOF
Overcoats - wear it right and you add extra oomph to a simple everyday outfit.
Wear it wrong and risk looking like The Joker in Suicide Squad.
(I suppose that could be a good look too...)
If anyone has the longcoat look down pat, it is FashionValet co-founder Vivy Yusof.
Her patterned brocade overcoat by Malaysian designer Syomirizwa Gupta ,white chiffon top and black and gold accessories prove to be the perfect pairing for the occasion.
YUNA
Like Vivy, Malaysian singer Yuna also chose a jacket by Syomirizwa Gupta.
Unlike everyone else, Yuna is the only person I can think of who can haphazardly throw on "whatever (she) had in suitcase" at last minute and still achieve a look deserving of an A+++.
