Movie Revew: Heartfall Arises (PG13)
The only good thing about this pretentious mess of a thriller is Hong Kong actor Nicholas Tse. Seriously, how does the dude look so ageless and devilishly handsome?
In a bid to catch a serial killer nicknamed General, cop John Ma (Tse) takes a bullet to his heart and has to undergo a heart transplant.
A year-and-a-half later, as the number of murders starts to multiply, Ma and Calvin Che (Lau Ching Wan), a criminal psychologist, are brought together to nab the baddie.
While the visceral fight scenes are exciting to watch, the movie's whole concept of cellular memory - that organ transplants can change a recipient's personality - is simply unbelievable and makes it hard for audiences to connect with the characters.
Verdict: 2/5
