Movie Review: Victor Frankenstein (PG)
James McAvoy must have waited his whole career to play a mad scientist.
We can tell because he's relishing the experience throughout the movie.
One moment, he's an obsessive-compulsive medical student and the next, a terrifying egomaniac who thinks he can play God.
McAvoy is great fun to watch as the titular character, as is Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Frankenstein's assistant Igor.
Victor Frankenstein has a Sherlock-esque flavour to it, as it was helmed by Paul McGuigan, director of the hit TV show.
The action and dialogue come thick and fast, resulting in a movie both horrific and humorous.
Even though you know how the story goes (mad scientist creates monster out of dead body parts, with horrifying consequences), there are some great twists in this version.
Who would've thought that we'd ever see a zombie monkey?
