E-bike accident survivor: 'I'm lucky to survive but ...'
The three young men were riding their e-bicycles on Thursday night when a trailer hit them from behind.
Mr Ang Yee Fong, 25, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Mr Ong Zi Quan, 18, was taken to National University Hospital (NUH) with serious injuries.
He later died in hospital.
Mr Marcus Loke, 17, was taken to NUH with leg injuries.
Speaking at NUH, Marcus told The New Paper that the trio started cycling at Jurong at around 10.30pm.
Mr Ang (left) and Mr Ong. PHOTOS: SHIN MINThey were going to his grandmother's home at Telok Blangah when the accident took place at the junction of Pandan Crescent along West Coast Highway.
Mr Loke was riding right in front, with Mr Ong in the middle and Mr Ang at the back.
He told TNP they were cycling within the double yellow lines on the extreme left side on the road when the trailer hit them from behind.
His friends were dragged on the road. He fell off his bicycle.
Mr Loke said he managed to pick himself up. Some car drivers who saw the accident then called for assistance.
"I'm very lucky to survive," he said. "But at the same time, I'm very sad to lose my friends."
Mr Ong's sister told the media that her brother was to be enlisted on Monday.
