VIDEO: Taxi driver lunges at passenger in argument over directions
A heated argument between a taxi driver and a passenger over directions.
Sound familiar?
When this passenger whips out her phone to film the exchange, the taxi driver lunges at her.
The video of the incident, shared on All Singapore's Stuff's Facebook page, shows a taxi driver arguing with his female passengers while driving on an expressway.
One of the passengers films the incident from the back seat of the taxi.
The argument apparently stemmed from a disagreement over directions to the passenger's destination.
It is unclear where the taxi was heading.
When the cabby sees the passenger filming him, he tries to grab the cellphone from the woman.
She immediately pulls away.
"Wah, you used force! Are you going to hit me?" she exclaims in Mandarin.
That resulted in the following argument.
Taxi driver: Yah. Why you keep taking photos from just now. Not happy ah?
Female passenger: I like to shoot, why is your attitude like that?
Taxi driver: I like to use force.
Female passenger: Try if you dare.
Taxi driver: I'll throw your handphone away.
Female passenger: What kind of attitude is that?
Later, the woman asks the taxi driver to cut across lanes.
He objects to the request, saying it's too dangerous.
That sparks off another round of arguments.
In response to queries from The New Paper, ComfortDelGro said the cabby has been disciplined and that he has "expressed remorse over his behaviour".
Ms Tammy Tan, group corporate communications officer for ComfortDelGro, said:
"Our cabbies have been told to always ask passengers for their preferred routes and to only suggest alternative routes if they know them to be faster.
In this instance, we do not condone our cabby's behaviour and have disciplined him.
The cabby has also expressed remorse over his behaviour.
We would also like to convey our deepest apologies to the passenger for the unpleasant encounter."
