Man, 70, charged with murdering flatmate
The two men were flatmates who shared a one-room rental unit in Bendemeer.
Now, one of them, Tan Kim Hock, 70, is accused of killing the other.
Tan, who is stateless, was charged in court yesterday with murdering Mr Fan Fook Heng, 62, in their flat on the seventh storey of Block 31, Bendemeer Road.
He allegedly committed the offence between 11.30pm on Monday and 12.30am on Tuesday.
Mr Fan was allegedly slashed. He died early yesterday.
Court papers did not reveal any details about his injuries or the weapon used.
The slim, small-sized Tan appeared in court yesterday dressed in a white polo T-shirt.
He appeared calm as he stood in the dock when the charge was read out to him.
He is remanded at the Central Police Division and may be taken out to help the authorities with their investigations.
Tan will be back in court next Tuesday.
If convicted of murder, he will face the death sentence.
