Man rescued from roof of burning building: 'We didn't know how to get down'
Seven people had to be rescued from a burning building in Sungei Kadut early Wednesday (Nov 2) morning.
A fire had engulfed the three-storey warehouse at 65 Sungei Kadut Loop.
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) crew rescued seven people who were trapped in the office-block adjoining the warehouse.
Three people were rescued from the rooftop, while four others were rescued from the third floor balcony, said SCDF in a Facebook post.
One of the men rescued from the rooftop, Mr Zhang, told The New Paper that when the fire alarm went off, he gathered everyone from his dorm to go up to the roof.
He said: "The smoke was really strong then, and we were choking.
"We didn't know how to get down, so we went up and waited for SCDF's rescue."
Another rescued worker, Mr Aung Aung, 40, said: "When I saw the smoke, I wanted to climb out of of the window.
"The main thing was to keep myself alive."
