Ciao! Ashley Cole set for Italian job with Roma
Ashley Cole is set to continue his career in Italy with Roma, according to his agent.
The former England left-back, who was released by Chelsea after he lost his place to Cesar Azpilicueta last season, touched down in Rome and was welcomed to the Italian capital by the Serie A side on Twitter.
A BBC report quoted Cole's agent, Jonathan Barnett, saying: "Ashley is out there and we are hoping it will be finalised today."
According to Reuters, the 33-year-old will pen a two-year deal with the Giallorossi and pick up a cool 2.3 million euros ($3.9m) a year.
Despite reported interest from Liverpool, it looks like Cole has kept his word to not join one of Chelsea's English Premier League rivals.
An Arsenal youth product who was part of Arsene Wenger's Invincibles team that went unbeaten in the 2003/04 season, Cole left the Gunners for Stamford Bridge in 2006.
During his time in England, Cole won three EPL titles, seven FA Cups and one League Cup while also winning the Champions League and Europa League with the Blues.
