Movie Review: Miss Peregrine's Home For Perculiar Children (PG13)
This is like a superhero movie, but directed by Tim Burton.
Through a tragic series of events, 16-year-old Jake Portman (Asa Butterfield) finds himself in an orphanage for children with peculiarities, that's stuck in 1943 and run by Miss Alma Peregrine (Eva Green).
Butterfield is only 19, but miraculously manages to shine next to A-listers like Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the film's villain, and Green.
Even when going up against Jackson, Butterfield succeeds as an actor with equal ability, thanks to his captivating performance.
Burton fans, however, may be disappointed.
Miss Peregrine's Home lacks the heart of his usual offerings and may be a little too dark for some audience members to handle.
