Peter Gilchrist takes Singapore's first gold in cuesports
Peter Gilchrist stormed to Singapore's first gold medal in cuesports for this South-east Asia (SEA) Games, beating Vietnam's Nguyen Thanh Binh 501-291 in the men's English billiards singles (500 points) final.
After struggling in the opening stages, Gilchrist managed to pull away from Nguyen with a 184-point break to finally seal the win after 26 visits.
Gilchrist, now a four-time SEA Games gold medalist after successes in 2009, 2011 and 2013 previously, will be competing in three other events - the English billiards singles, doubles and team events.
