He was meeting up with another teenager to sell him an airsoft gun.

But both teens ended up being arrested.

On June 11, officers arrested the two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, at a block at Yishun Ring Road for the possession of airsoft guns.

Investigations revealed that the 17-year-old suspect was planning to sell the airsoft gun to the 15-year-old.

The older teenager had earlier purchased the airsoft gun from another man, aged 26.

The latter was arrested on June 12 in Choa Chu Kang, and was found to have two other airsoft guns with pellets and gas refills which were also seized.

In a separate case, a 27-year-old man was arrested along Jurong West Street 61 on June 28 for the possession of an airsoft gun.

The suspect was also found to allegedly be involved in a criminal intimidation case and other drug-related offences.

Airsoft guns and other guns which used compressed gas to shoot pellets are considered as "arms" and as such are regulated under the Arms and Explosives Act.

No one is allowed to have these items in their possession unless they have the proper licence.

In the past, police have explained that airsoft guns resemble real weapons that may be used for criminal acts.

Also, these guns can cause injuries if used improperly.

Anyone found guilty may be fined up to $5,000 for every such gun in their possession and jailed up to three years.

It is also an offence to import or export any arms or explosives or parts of any arms or explosives.

Anyone found guilty of doing so can be jailed for up to three years and fined up to $10,000.

Investigations against all four suspects are ongoing.
