Buoyed by pop-up store's success
Jay Chou fans have Lee Teng to thank for playing a big part in making Chou's streetwear brand Phantaci a permanent fixture in Singapore.
At the store's grand opening yesterday, Lee, 32, told reporters that it was a "50-50 joint venture" between him and Chou's team.
"Altogether, we put in a six-figure sum to make this happen," he said.
"In December 2014, Phantaci did a two-week pop-up store at my boutique Ground Zero at *Scape. It was very well-received and we were buoyed by its success.
"We feel that Singapore is a great market to have a permanent standalone store for Phantaci.
"Orchard Gateway, like *Scape, is where a lot of hip fashion boutiques are. The location is good."
Local celebrities such as actresses Carrie Wong and Hayley Woo, rapper Shigga Shay, singers Derrick Hoh and Kelly Poon were among the invited guests.
