Movie Review: S Storm (NC16)
Hong Kongers love movies revolving around their famous graft-busting agency ICAC (Independent Commission Against Corruption). It's a subject that never seems to get stale.
In crime thriller S Storm, a sequel to 2014's Z Storm, ICAC investigator William Luk (Louis Koo) and police detective Lau Po Keung (Julian Cheung) work together to bust an illegal bookmaking ring.
Their joint operation gets increasingly dangerous when they encounter an assassin (Vic Chou) who has managed to charm Lau's sister (Dada Chan).
While the action scenes are slick, S Storm is forgettable, no thanks to its two-dimensional lead characters. It's the supporting cast members who light up the screen with unexpected turns in their story arcs.
Verdict: 3/5
