Elektromotive Group acquires S.Korea's Dream T
This year, we bid goodbye to four big-name K-pop girl groups - Kara, Rainbow, 4Minute, 2NE1. Contracts for several other K-pop groups are slated to end next year, and little is known if they will be renewed.
But fans of Girl's Day can heave a sigh of relief, for now.
The quartet of Sojin, 30, Hyeri, 21, Minah, 23, and Yura, 24, formed in 2010, will stay intact.
At a press conference yesterday, which included Girl's Day, Singapore-based company Elektromotive Group, which provides technology and engineering solutions, said it will be acquiring a 63 per cent stakein Girl's Day's management company Dream T Entertainment.
Mr Lee Jong-Suk, founder and chief executive officer of Dream T, said heplans to introduce more K-pop groups.
"Stars here can also work with Dream T and come to South Korea to collaborate," said Mr Lee.
Asked how they have managed to stay together for nearly seven years, Hyeri said: "We tend to like the same food or style, and I think that's one secret to having a strong bond."
Their favourite activity together?
"Bowling!" said the girls in unison.
