Movie Review: BARELY LETHAL (PG13)
In one scene, assassin-in-disguise Megan (Hailee Steinfeld) shoves a trombone straight into a guy's, er, trombone.
It is one of several funny gags in this comedy mash-up of spy movies such as Kingsman: The Secret Service and high-school flicks like Mean Girls.
Steinfeld stars as newly minted special agent 83 from the Prescott academy, run by the dubiously named Hardman (Samuel L. Jackson).
After catching master criminal Victoria Knox (Jessica Alba), 83 decides to run off and live like a normal teenager, codenamed Megan.
I rather liked it - didn't most girls dream of being trainee assassins in high school? Or was that just me?
It is not nearly as intelligent as Mean Girls, but the ass-kicking is still fun to watch.
And Steinfeld is also oddly endearing as a martial arts geek.
