Taylor Swift unveils new man, MV at Billboard Music Awards
Taylor Swift is biggest winner with eight trophies, but her love life takes centre stage as new boyfriend showers her with public displays of affection
Her highly anticipated Bad Blood music video may be out, but all eyes were on the "new blood" in Taylor Swift's life.
The singer had given fans teasers of the video all week, posting on her Instagram account photos of her famous friends who had starring roles in the clip.
But the spotlight was on her latest boyfriend, Scottish DJ-producer Calvin Harris, 31.
At the annual Billboard Music Awards held in Las Vegas on Sunday night (US time), the US superstar was flanked by her Bad Blood music video co-stars, Grey's Anatomy actress Ellen Pompeo, US singer-actress Zendaya and Pitch Perfect 2 starlet Hailee Steinfeld, during the three-hour show at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
But it was Harris whom she was cosying up to.
The long-awaited reveal of the music video at the ceremony became a trending topic on Twitter.
But #Caylor - or #Tayvin? - may just become a thing very soon too.
The pair were first spotted flirting at the Brit Awards, in the UK, in February.
They have been spotted together many times since, just last week on their dinner date holding hands, in California.
The Billboard Music Awards was the couple's first formal public appearance together.
Swift, 25, might have tried to act casual but Harris' lingering hugs and kisses on her hair after each of her four televised wins, told us everything we need to know about their budding romance.
Swift and Harris were in relationships with UK boy band One Direction member Harry Styles in 2012 and English singer Rita Oralast year, respectively.
While their former lovers were in attendance at the show, there were no reports of awkward run-ins.
Just three months ago, the Grammy-winning pop sweetheart foresaw herself as a lonely cat lady at 30 in an interview.
She told The Telegraph: "I'll probably still be single, let's be honest. No one's going to sign up for this and everything that goes with it.
"Like, 'Hi, nice to meet you, want a date? Do you love camera flashes? I hope you do!'.
"I don't know what's going to happen if I'm ever content in a relationship - no idea how that's going to work. I don't even know if that's possible with the life I have."
But Swift's closest friends have reportedly given the charming musician and Emporio Armani underwear model their seal of approval.
'NICE GUY'
Her English singer-songwriter BFF Ed Sheeran called Harris a "really nice guy" when asked about the then-rumoured romance in April by New Zealand radio station ZM Online.
Swift's gal pal, US actress-model Jaime King, gushed about how Harris is a "wonderful and beautiful" man.
A source also told People magazine that they are "on the same page" and they are "very low-key and stay at home a lot".
We can only hope Harris does not suffer the same fate as Swift's famous ex-boyfriends like Styles, Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal and US singer John Mayer - who all had the misfortune of being referenced in her heartbreak hits Out Of The Woods, All Too Well and Dear John, respectively.
Swift, the Billboard Music Awards' biggest winner with a total of eight trophies, had other reasons to celebrate.
She unveiled her much-anticipated Sin City-inspired music video Bad Blood - the song was reportedly inspired by a feud with US pop star Katy Perry - to rave reviews.
Featuring verses from US rapper Kendrick Lamar, it boasts an all-star cast, including US actresses Lena Dunham and Jessica Alba, US models Martha Hunt and Lily Aldridge, US singer Selena Gomez and many more.
In the futuristic femme fatale-heavy clip, Swift (playing Catastrophe), even exchanges bitch slaps with Gomez, who kicks her and sends her crashing through a glass window.
It earned praises from the likes of US supermodel Tyra Banks ("Reminds me of @michaeljackson videos when I was young") and US country singer Faith Hill.
WORST PRETEND SINGERS
As if it was not bad enough that they lip-synced.
Pop singer Britney Spears (right) and Australian rapper Iggy Azalea (left) did not even try to "sing" to the beat during their performance of their new duet Pretty Girls.
In the running for the Worst Pretend Singer award is US rapper Nicki Minaj (below), who had her microphone pasted on her cheek the entire duration of The Night Is Still Young.
Fortunately, there were real singers at the event, like Kelly Clarkson, who truly sang from the heart.
JENNER SISTERS BOOED
The US reality TV sisters, Kylie (above) and Kendall Jenner (below) — who do not have any music industry association — were booed on stage when they were introducing “great artist, a friend, an inspiration, a brother and now a doctor” Kanye West prior to the US rapper’s performance of his hits All Day and Black Skinhead.
But props to them for their professionalism - they hardly batted a fake eyelash.
Unfortunately, West, who is married to their half-sister Kim Kardashian, was also booed after his performance.
JOHN LEGEND'S WIFE TRIES TO BE FUNNY
We love the feisty Sports Illustrated model on social media, the one who shames her haters and is generous with her catty opinions.
But Chrissy Teigen, wife of US singer John Legend, came across as sloshed rather than funny as she forced herself to be hilarious as the co-host with US rapper-actor Ludacris.
She planted herself on Legend's lap and made it clear to the audience she "banged" him - like we do not already know that.
She made a joke about going home with All About That Bass hit-maker Meghan Trainor.
She suggested that she wanted to see English singer Charli XCX's butt.
So many off-colour comments we do not care for... save your remarks for US sing-off comedy Lip Sync Battle, Teigen!
