Singapore's first talent search for social media influencers, I Can Be An Influencer, seeks to discover new rising talents and nurture the next generation of social media personalities.

Attractive prizes await the top three winners, with a total cash prize of $15,000. On top of that, one participant from the Top 10 entries will be awarded a three-year endorsement contract worth $100,000 by Gain City, the presenter of the inaugural contest.

Shortlisted participants will create a 30-second video based on one of five categories (beauty, F&B, entertainment, travel and technology) and will also receive mentorship from industry veterans such as make-up guru Kelvin Lao Shi and Power 98 DJ Dee Kosh.

The top 10 will be chosen based on the engagement level of their entries on social media platforms, and will vie for the top three places by creating creative brand content to market selected products live at the grand finals on Nov 10.

COMEX 2019

This year, Hong Kong’s TVB celebrities Grace Chan (left), Katy Kung and Shaun Tam add star power to Singapore’s largest IT and consumer technology exhibition with their first joint meet-and-greet session here, organised by Singapore Press Holdings’ Chinese Media Group.

Comex 2019 will be held from Sept 5 to 8 at Suntec Convention Centre Singapore, Levels 3 (11am to 9pm), 4 and 6 (noon to 9pm).

The actors from the TVB drama Justice Bao: The First Year will make appearances at Level 6, Hall 601, Booth 6458 on Sept 6 (6pm to 7pm) and Sept 7 (1pm to 2pm).

They will also host interactive games for fans where 10 winners stand to score either a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active (worth $318) or Samsung Galaxy Fit (worth $168).

You can also catch Tam playing with local professional esports players in Counter- Strike: Global Offensive and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL 2019 AT GARDENS BY THE BAY

From now till Sept 15, 7pm to 11pm, discover Chinese traditions as spectacular lantern sets light up the annual event, organised in partnership with Singapore Press Holdings’ Chinese Media Group.

At the official launch taking place today at the newly-opened Bayfront Plaza, Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will light up 90 hanging lanterns in the “Lattice Of Lights” structure at 7.30pm, before joining members of the public in a lively lantern procession, accompanied by an LED dragon dance and festive mascots.

Visitors will also be able to stroll into the Giant Revolving Lantern which envelops an iconic Supertree and offers an immersive experience of the legend of Chang E and Hou Yi.

And from Wednesdays to Sundays during the festival, 10 local arts groups will delight the crowd with free cultural performances.

SINGAPORE SCIENCE FESTIVAL (SSF) 2019

The national event that celebrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Stem) is back for its 19th year, from today till Sept 14.

SSF 2019 kicks off with the Science Buskers Festival – a fun show-and-tell with students sharing their love of science – happening at Plaza Singapura’s Outdoor Plaza today (12.30pm to 6pm) and tomorrow (10am to 6pm). With 721 participants from 58 schools, it will host the largest number of buskers to date.

The official launch at 10.30am tomorrow will present science experiments and demonstrations, followed by the Science Show at 11.30am.
