Standing ovation for Boo Junfeng's Film at Cannes
Overwhelmed.
That was how director Boo Junfeng felt after the premiere of his passion project, Apprentice, at the 69th Cannes Film Festival yesterday.
He told The New Paper that the standing ovation after the screening "brought many of us to tears".
"The reviews have been very encouraging," said the 32-year-old local film-maker.
"Several people came up to me and told me how affected they were by the film - in good and bad ways."
Opening here on June 30, Apprentice revolves around young prison guard Aiman (Fir Rahman), who is brought under the wing of the prison's chief executioner Rahim (Wan Hanafi Su).
It is Boo's second feature film and is competing at the Un Certain Regard section this Sunday.
