Malaysian singer Sharifah Aini dies
Best remembered for her beautiful singing voice and trademark big hair, Sharifah Aini was buried on Saturday (July 5) at 12.15pm at a the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cementary near Kuala Lumpur.
She was 61.
She passed away peacefully on Saturday morning at 1.26am on Saturday (July5) at the Damansara specialist hospital where she has been warded since Tuesday ( July 1) for breathing difficulties The Star Online reported.
The popular singer was diagnosed with lung fibrosis, two years ago. The rare disease causes hardening and scarring of the lungs.
Among those who was there to pay their last respects were her family and friends including singer Siti Nurhaliza.
Tributes came pouring in for the late singer. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak tweeted that he was saddened by her death and he hopes that she gets a place among the faithful.

Her big break came after she won the "Bintang Radio Television Singapore" (Star of Radio and Television Singapore) in 1968. This led to a recording contract with EMI records and 700 songs later her place in the history of Malaysian recording industry is assured.
