After Facebook user Kovit Ang uploaded a photo on Facebook of a Marina Bay Sands (MBS) eatery, the 1983 - A Taste of Nanyang foodcourt has been closed till further notice "for thorough cleaning".
"MBS is aware of a pest incident that occurred at one of our tenanted F&B outlets, 1983 - A Taste of Nanyang, located at the South Promenade of The Shoppes, on Oct 6.
"We immediately took action and worked with the tenant to conduct checks and investigate the incident," MBS said in a statement sent to The New Paper on Thursday.
"The outlet is now closed temporarily for thorough cleaning and will reopen upon further notice.
"In the interest of our customers, MBS maintains strict hygiene levels in our operations, and we expect the same level of high standards from our tenants. We will continue to ensure these rules are applied consistently across the property. To prevent this incident from happening again, the tenant will increase the frequency of its pest control checks."
While MBS is trying to control the situation, netizens online have been sharing their views on Facebook.
