Do you use the Bukit Panjang Light Rail Transit to get to work? You might want to make other plans for Tuesday
If you usually take the Bukit Panjang Light Rail Transit to get to school or to work, you might want to make alternative arrangements for Tuesday (March 10).
Managing director of SMRT Trains, Mr Lee Ling Wee, said in a statement on Monday night: "As at 2355 hours, we recommend commuters make alternative arrangements for their early morning travel."
Bus bridging services will be provided at all LRT stations along Service A and B, said Mr Lee. Commuters can also board the regular SMRT bus services for free at certain bus stops.
Additional SMRT staff will be deployed on ground to assist commuters, said Mr Lee.
Train services were disrupted on the entire Bukit Panjang LRT on Monday evening when a power trip happened between Pending station and Jelapang Station at about 5.30pm.
Separately, the fire alarm at Senja station went off at about 5.45pm. Smoke was reportedly seen at the station’s plant room and the power tie-breakers were found to be damaged.
Service was suspended for the rest of the night.
Mr Lee said: "We will give an update to commuters before the start of train service at 0500 hours."
