One of the most iconic songs off the US rock band's debut 1991 album Ten, Jeremy was also its most successful, peaking at No. 5 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and Billboard Modern Rock Tracks charts.
It was given a gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling over half a million units.

Jeremy's biggest claim to fame may be its music video, which featured a boy shooting himself in the mouth. The song was inspired by an article singer-lyricist Eddie Vedder read about a high school student who shot himself in front of his English class on Jan 8, 1991.
Despite having been flagged as controversial, it won three awards at the MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Video of the Year.
By late 1992, Ten had reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart and with Nirvana's Nevermind, was instrumental in popularising grunge rock. It remains Pearl Jam's most commercially successful album.

Twenty five years since their debut, Pearl Jam are still making music.
The quintet from Seattle, Washington, wrapped up their North American anniversary tour last month and are reportedly working on new material. Their last album was 2013's Lightning Bolt.
Vedder, 51, has also been making himself heard politically.
At the recent Global Citizen Festival where he performed alongside Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, he told the crowd: "Use your voices, use your vote, and together we can use our power for good."
