The Results
The song reached number one in 28 countries. It also received a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America for selling one million units. It was the best-selling single of 1993, and earned Meat Loaf, 69, a Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Solo.
That was then...
The song came out of the album Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell, which was the album that marked the US singer's return to popularity.
Meat Loaf had been struggling since the early 80s since his break with long-time collaborator Jim Steinman, but upon reuniting, Meat Loaf was once again a success.
This is now...
Meat Loaf continues to tour. He has released six more albums, bringing his total to 13.
However, he has also often taken ill during concerts, even collapsing on stage. Despite that, he claims to be going on as strong as ever.
He told US magazine People: "If you got within three feet of me your ears would bleed. That's how loud I am. Even still. And I was louder before."
That said, he has also stated that his latest album, Braver Than We Are, will likely be his last.
