S'poreans in Hokkaido bus crash unhurt, keen to continue tour, says travel agency
The 33 Singaporean tourists were on a seven-day tour of Hokkaido.
But midway through their holiday, their bus collided head-on with a truck this morning (Oct 23).
The accident killed both the bus and truck drivers. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, a spokesman from Hong Thai Travel Services said.
Earlier media reports said 14 passengers were sent to hospital.
Company spokesman Stella Chow said staff had spent the morning contacting the tourists to check on their well-being.
"More than half the passengers that we contacted suffered only minor injuries," she told The New Paper.
A company representative is on the way from Tokyo to Hokkaido to provide further assistance.
"When contacted, the tourists sounded calm and (wanted to know) if they were going to continue with the rest of their itinerary," she added.
The tourists will be assisting the local police in their investigation.
The group is scheduled to return to Singapore on Sunday, Oct 26.
