Medium pleads guilty to rape
A medium, on the pretext of protecting his client from "supernatural beings", lured the woman to his Bukit Batok home.
There, he raped the 35-year-old.
Ow Siew Hoe, who is also known as Ow-Yong Siew Hoe, 49, pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday (March 22) morning.
Ow had convinced the sales assistant that she was a victim of black magic and told the married woman that she had to collect "protective items" at his flat in February 2014.
When she arrived, he gave her a cup of "holy water" to drink.
He then led the drowsy and dizzy woman to the bedroom, where he raped her.
The woman made a police report two days later and officers arrested Ow on Feb 28, 2014.
The court heard that midazolam, also known as Dormicum, a type of sleeping pill, was detected on a stone pestle and mortar seized from his flat.
However, court papers did not mention if the drug was detected in the woman.
