When her mother found her, she was naked, bloodied and dangling from a dog's mouth. Part of her left ear was also missing.

The four-year-old girl had been viciously attacked by her landlord's 10 dogs on Saturday afternoon (July 18) while playing on her own near her home in China's Kunming city.

The woman managed to chase the dog away, and the girl was rushed to hospital.

"All her clothes that I found were covered in blood. It was terrible," said the girl's mother.

The girl, whose name is Lu Lu, was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU).

Injuries from head to toe

She was in shock when she arrived and doctors took three hours to stitch up her wounds, which covered her entire body.

A nurse, who was feeding Lu Lu bread and milk when reporters arrived, said the girl was very strong and did not shed a tear throughout the process.

At the time of the incident, Lulu's mother was feeding the pigs at home, while her father was out collecting waste products to support the family.

The hospital bill is more than 8,000 yuan (S$1,800), and the Lu family owes 3,000 yuan.

Lu Lu's father, Mr Lu En Xue, said the landlord has refused to bear the medical expenses.

"Even now, he does not want to take responsibility for the incident," said Mr Lu.

My dogs, but not my fault

The landlord told Oriental Daily that while it was his dogs who bit Lu Lu, he was not at fault as he had warned the Lu family before they rented the house that he had many dogs and that the family needed to be careful.

"I only rented the place out to them after they agreed," he said.

The man, who was not at home at the time of the incident, said he was unsure why his dogs bit the girl.
